Neil Lennon was asked about his counterpart Steven Gerrard and the pressure he’s under to deliver for the Ibrox side.

The Celtic manager admitted he hadn’t seen Gerrard’s comments after the Hearts loss that dumped the Ibrox club out of the Scottish Cup , but he empathises with the former Liverpool captain.

It was only two months ago the pressure was on the Celtic manager to deliver after a devastating home defeat to The Rangers. Now at the start of March, the bhoys are twelve points clear and have a semi final to look forward to.

Asked about Gerrard, the Celtic manager spoke of the pressure managing in Glasgow can bring:

“I can empathise with him, just because of the pressures the job brings. But I didn’t see his comments so I can’t really comment on them.” Lennon told SunSport.

“It’s always the case, it’s never been any different. I have been here 20 years in Scotland and it’s never changed.

“In fact, if anything it’s getting more and more pressurised with the way the media is and social media and analysis. Sometimes it’s unrealistic and sometimes the expectations are unrealistic as well.”

Celtic will travel to Ibrox in less than two weeks to take on the second place side. A Celtic win would be a massive nail in the coffin for Gerrard’s dwindling grasp of things at his club; Lennon might empathise but come Derby day he’ll be out to pile on the misery.
