Neil Lennon surely can’t be happy after the Scotland vs Israel game on Thursday night. The Irishman would have watched his utility man Nir Bitton not just play for Israel in the night but take part in a time and penalties – days after he told the media Nir was not fit to play.

Israel called Nir up after he suffered an injury setback with Celtic

“I can’t see him being fit for any of the international games.” Lennon told RecordSport on October 5th.

The Celtic manager went as far as to say he’d be a doubt for the Glasgow Derby game next Saturday.

Instead of taking that on board, Israel defied Nir’s club’s wishes to put him out onto the field for the whole game.

Israel went out on penalties to Scotland on the night with Celtic star Callum McGregor scoring from the spot as well as Nir Bitton.

The club will be anxious to get Nir back into Lennoxtown to see what they’re dealing with. If he’s played 120mjns while his ankle is still recovering – it could set him back longer.
