At one point during this season, it looked like Mohamed Elyounoussi was going to be the spark in the Celtic team that kept the silverware flooding in. Now after a few months battling injury, he finds himself trying to force is way into a red hot winning machine.

Neil Lennon has made a few changes for the new year, the manager has hit the attack button and so far it has returned a truckload of goals. Elyounoussi contributed some major goals when he was in the team but where does he fit into this new 3-5-2?

You could argue that Lennon could do replicate what he is doing on the right-hand side of the park with James Forrest turning defender when Celtic don’t have the ball. But do you really think the Celtic manager would drop his 3 wing-backs for another attacking winger? Will Frimpong come in for Forrest when he gets back from injury? Can Elyounoussi get back and defend when needed?

While fans try to work out what the manager’s play will be you can be assured Neil Lennon is welcoming this kind of headache. With so many games still left to be played in all competitions the Celtic boos will not complain about too much firepower.

The winger, currently valued at £10.8m (Transfermarkt) had an explosive start to his Celtic career and it will be hard to ignore a man sitting on the bench who scored six goals in his first 13 games. At one point he looked worth every penny Southampton paid for him and fans were demanding he be signed permanently in the next window. Now, he has to do it all over again.

  1. Did nobody at Celtic Park realise that our new player’s name is Klimala – NOT Kilmala.
His jersey had the wrong spelling today. It’s not a big deal, but is embarrassing, for the club and especially the player. Get a grip, whoever is supposed to check this.
