The Celtic left-back position is getting plenty of attention these last few weeks for both good reasons. The good is new signing Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, the player has been speaking in depth at what he is looking forward to most with the forthcoming season.

His interview in the Herald sees him highlight Champions League football and those big Glasgow derbies.

“Everybody loves the Champions League and I can’t wait to have that second chance again with Celtic. Hopefully, we can do something great with Celtic.”

Boli has already watched Celtic in the Champions League and he had some praise for Celtic Parks crazy fans.

“Celtic is a famous club so I have seen some highlights. It was nice to see how crazy the fans were and how they won games. I also saw them play against Barcelona and PSG in the Champions League. “There was a great atmosphere in the stadium. I can’t wait to play in the stadium and feel the fans behind me. That can only motivate you to give them something back.”

The bad vibe around the left-back position has been of course the constant stories of bids for Kieran Tierney. The player is currently undergoing rehab after an operation at the end of an injury-strewn season. Boli has already commented that he hopes Kieran Tierney stays at Celtic Park so they can push and help each other.

Tierney missed both Ibrox games last season, the new signing is aware of the fixture and sounds pretty ready to be thrown into the deep end. The first Glasgow derby of the season will be at Ibrox on the 1st of September and the new left-back is ready to show his qualities.

“The Celtic games against Rangers are famous. In every country the derby games are different. Rangers are always going to do everything they can to win the game, but for Celtic, the game is important also.

“I have played against Rangers before and I think the Scottish league will be a tough league, not an easy league. I think it will take my time to adapt to the league, but once I do that I think I will be alright and can show my qualities.”

Celtic are two days away from their first competitive game of the season as the team heads over to Sarajevo for the first leg of their Champions League qualifiers.
