PETER LAWWELL will step down from his position at Celtic in five months time. The news broke early on Friday morning with the club putting it out to the supporters.

There will be no speculation about his successor as the club have also already named that man; Dominic Mckay.

Mckay has been the CEO of Scottish Rugby Union since 2008 but will now step down from his role in the summer to take over from Peter Lawwell.

Celtic have been run by Peter Lawwell for the past 17 years and things have become stale over time. There’s no doubting his business acumen but there have been so many stories of the CEO becoming almost a director of football at times which is not what your CEO should be doing.

Picking the incoming manager’s staff on many occasions and micromanaging them.

Dom comes in with a fresh slate with the opportunity to transition Celtic into a new era.

We have to refocus this summer and get back to winning on the park, that can only happen if we make the right moves between now and the summer.

With Lawwell’s departure, we believe Neil Lennon will be the next to leave or step down in the summer.
