NIKOLA KATIC claims his team would have won the league had they just played Celtic every week, insisting they had their rivals number last term. The only problem with this is, there were three derby games last season and Celtic won two of them.
Celtic deserved their win in Govan back in September which seems like a lifetime ago now. The cup final was a different kettle of fish but let it be said that Celtic started the cup final with Lewis Morgan up front and finished with ten men, conceding a penalty and still came away with the win.
The game at Celtic Park, they shaded it on the day and fair play to them. It ultimately contributed to their downfall as a resolute and galvanised Celtic came back after the winter break and never lost a domestic game while the wild celebrations at Celtic Park proved to be the moment his side peaked.
Katic told RecordSport:
“If we had played every game last season against Celtic, we would be champions. Against them, we were always playing at a high standard.
“In the Cup Final, we were impossibly good against Celtic, but just couldn’t score.
“There is certainly a difference in finances, but the Scottish league is quite difficult because it is not easy to play away at Aberdeen, Hearts and others.”
