PAUL LAMBERT has always seemed like one of those half glass empty people in the media.

The former Hoops man plays the stereotypical disgruntled Scotsman in many media settings.

He’s not disappointed when talking about the upcoming Glasgow Derby. Yes, there are not many positives to take from the season but Lambert went as far as saying a Celtic win on Sunday would do nothing for anybody.

Technically he’s correct, but there are huge swathes of the support who want to see this team get a win against their rivals and end in already ridiculous comparisons to Rodgers invincible side.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lambert said:

“They’re lucky there’s no fans there. If this was 50,000 Rangers fans going to Ibrox, they’d be coming in party mode. [Celtic] are probably thankful there’s no support there.

“A win [makes] no difference, all it’s going to be is we’ve beaten Rangers in a season. That’s all it’s going to be. It’s not going to rectify the league, but it might give the Celtic fans something back.

“I think [Celtic] have missed the support. Players have took their foot off the gas, taken their eye off the ball, thinking “well we’re just going to get 10IAR, it’s going to be easy”. Rangers have stepped up to the plate. Celtic haven’t performed in the games they should’ve done.

“I certainly think the Celtic support’s been a big loss to them.”

The team have missed the fans but it can’t be an excuse for how poor we’ve been.

Tactically we have been naive and our decision making has been another level of shocking.

A win does matter. The false comparisons between this Ibrox side and Brendan Rodgers invincible side are being made when in reality, they’re missing two trophies.

Celtic fans are going into the game on Sunday with hope more than expectation. Our last win in the league against them came in 2019.
