Yet again, today Celtic have been linked to Jordan Larsson, son of Henrik. [RecordSport] As good as the potential signing may sound, I hold the opinion that the Spartak Moscow player should not become a Celtic player.

As good as the idea of one of Celtic’s greatest ever players’ son pulling on the green and white jersey I firmly believe this could be a disaster for all parties involved, including his father.

The expectation on Jordan is already really high, and if he were to play for Celtic fans and the media would try to draw comparisons between Jordan and his Dad. It will only put the 24-year-old under immense pressure and if unable to perform to an exceptionally high standard he will have a full fanbase on his back.

Jordan is in really poor form currently, only finding the back of the net once in his last 16 games. Not a good look for a striker who will be expected to score goals like his father if he turned up in Glasgow. The kind of form that would not displace Kyogo Furuhashi.

The price of the Swede makes me doubt Celtic’s interest is real. Today’s report suggests offers under £13 million will be listened to, however, Celtic do not have the financial strength to buy him, Jota and Carter-Vickers.

Finally, the last reason why I am opposed to the signing of Jordan Larsson is that Daizen Maeda has been linked with a move to Parkhead [The Times]. Ange knows this player well and the Japanese international is in great form. Maeda is also accustomed to playing Ange’s unique style of football.

The signing of Larsson just doesn’t make sense to me, and I firmly believe signing him will not benefit anyone.
