For those who know me on a personal basis, my love and admiration for the Celtic team is strong but one man who I’ll always defend until the end of time is Tom Rogic.

The Australian has given us some incredible moments during his time at Celtic and over the past 4 years in general.

The Australian is a genius with the ball at his feet and his Scottish Cup final winning goal to clinch a PROPER invincible season has gone down in Celtic folklore.

That’s why I and many other Celtic fans were gutted when we heard at the start of last season that the Hoops had accepted a bid for the midfielder. A transfer to a club in the United Arab Emirates looked like a goer and a lot of the support were saying their goodbyes on social media.

The Wizard of Oz rejected the move and decided to stay with Celtic – much to our delight.

However, hindsight is a great thing and I’m firmly of the belief it would have been a much better scenario to have waved goodby to Tom last season.

This team hasn’t been at it and Tom has not recaptured the form he had under Brendan Rodgers. Neil Lennon never really was a Tom Rogic guy, Brendan knew how to get the best out of Tom like he did with many others in the side.

Tom could be part of the exodus this summer if a bid comes in for him. He would likely be more receptive to a move given what’s happened this season and his lack of influence on the team.

Could a new manager use Tom? Perhaps as a sub for the final 30 minutes of games? To be honest, I don’t want to see Tom whither away at Celtic and if he can get first team football elsewhere, I think it’s time for a switch, I type through tear-stained eyes!

  1. He has made little or no contribution to the side past 18 months, time is definitely up . Take what we can get for him now
