ERIK SVIATCHENKO and FC Midtjylland were sent packing from the Champions League last night after a 0-0 draw in their second leg tie with FC Astana.

The Danish side looked in a strong position after scoring an away goal in Kazakhstan last week – but a 94th-minute winner and the subsequent draw at home as killed their Euro dreams.

Erik has played at Champions League level with Celtic and was hoping to help take his current side as far as he could.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t break Astana down – a team Celtic scored 9 goals against in the Champions League qualifiers last season.

The Europa League awaits the Danish Champions now, who will find out their opponents tonight after the second leg of Europa fixtures have been played.
