It looks like Patrick Roberts Spanish adventure could be all over by January according to reports.

The former Celtic star spent two and a half seasons on loan at Parkhead before leaving in the summer to find a new challenge.

It was thought Roberts would go to a Premier League side but when Leicester came calling the Englishman didn’t fancy the move.

Roberts was lined up to be part of a deal between City and Leicester for the transfer of Riyad Mahrez but the double treble winner rebuffed their advances.

He made a rather surprising loan move to Girona shortly after this. Manchester City have sent over five players to the Spanish side where Pep Guardiola, his brother and Man City owners have invested in the La Liga club.

Since heading there in the summer Roberts has had very limited game time, starting only three matches and failing to make an impact.

According to SunSport, City and Roberts will cut the loan short in January and the player will assess his next move.
