Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that his side will be without striker Kyogo Furuhashi for the next ‘3-4 weeks’.

The 26-year old picked up a knock whilst on international duty with Japan, as they faced China. He was forced off the field with what was thought to be a knee injury, despite being unchallenged.

Of course, this left many Celtic fans worried at what sort of injury the Japanese frontman would have sustained.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the Hoops return to SPFL action this weekend, Postecoglou confirmed that Kyogo would miss around a month of action, as reports had suggested late last night.

It will likely come as a blow to Ange and his squad after the blistering start which Furuhashi made in his opening games as a Celtic player, scoring seven in nine appearances.

This will now put more emphasis on the deadline day signing of Georgios Giakoumakis, who will now have to hit the ground running right from the off. Either that or the only other striker at the club, Albian Ajeti, will need to take his shot in the side when it comes.

Thankfully, Kyogo’s injury isn’t long term. However, he will be missing some key European and domestic ties in the next month.
