ANGE POSTECOGLOU’s team were taken to penalties today against minnows Honda FC in the Emperor’s cup and were knocked out in heartbreaking fashion.

The game ended 2-2 after extra time before penalty shootouts settled things.

This was speculated to be Ange’s last game and we’re likely to find out sooner rather than later if that’s the case.

The Australian has been hotly tipped to take over at Celtic Park this summer but nor Ange or the club have broken cover to confirm the deal.

If reports over the past few days are true, Ange will finish up today with Marino’s and hot foot it to Glasgow in order to get rolling with the Hoops.

Nothing’s ever straight forward with Celtic, last season and our protracted, unsuccessful negotiations with Eddie Howe has proven that.

The hope is Postecoglou is shortly announced and he can get to work behind the scenes almost immediately before joining his players on the pitch in pre-season.

The players due back next week will be all who are not participating in the Euros or for their country so it won’t be a full house at Lennoxtown when John Kennedy is likely to take the team.

  1. Sounds ominous. What minnows are going to dump us out the cups this year. Manager should have been in place weeks ago. We are doomed to failure. Fail to prepare – prepare to fail.

  2. I’ll be truly honest, when Lubo was signed and the press made a big thing about it. I buried my head in my hands and screamed at the TV, why are we signing a 36-year-old? Years later I met Lubo and shook his hand for the quality player he was. I ate my words – Lubo was sheer class, loved him!
If Ange is not what we need we’ll need to find someone who is. Give the guy time and see where we go with his dream in managing Celtic.

  3. As always I’ll support the new manager and time will tell how successful or not he will be. It will be a complete new start at Celtic, new Manager, new CEO, new Captain and more or less new team. It will be a very interesting season and I’m prepared to give them all my backing and lets hope that they can turn things round after last seasons debacle. The emphasis must be on the League considering the winners go straight into the Champion League Group stages the following season.
