Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has singled out Hoops captain Callum McGregor for his performance during last night’s 3-0 Scottish Cup victory over Dundee United.

The midfielder opened the scoring on Monday evening, setting the tone early on, before going on to lead Postecoglou’s side to another cup quarter-final victory and booking a third trip to Hampden Park this campaign.

Speaking to Premier Sports in the aftermath of the victory, the Celtic manager praised the 28-year old’s performance, helping the side dominate in what was a potential banana skin tie on a difficult surface.

“Yes, he was outstanding tonight. His football, he was really clean on the ball, and it’s not easy. Walking on that pitch, it’s difficult to get your passes through the lines, but he was clean in his possession.

“And it’s another good goal he got as well.”

After his disappointment of missing a penalty during the Hoops last victory away to Livingston, McGregor showed why he is captain of this side once again last night, putting in a brilliant display.

Sitting in front of the defence, McGregor controlled the play and swept up any potential danger, as well as opening the scoring with a powerful strike in the early stages.

The Celtic captain is going to have a big impact during an important few weeks in our season. So hopefully, we can continue to see those sort of impactful performances from McGregor every week.
