Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has defended the commitment of Hoops striker Odsonne Edouard.

As quoted by the Daily Record, speaking ahead of Sunday’s derby fixture, the 56-year old is adamant that the Frenchman will continue to give his all for the club, even with the recent rumours and speculation of his exit from Parkhead.

“I have stopped hoping or fearing about those exits. What I saw was Ryan gave everything in Alkmaar to get us the qualification and worked his socks off.

“Odsonne, when he came on, was outstanding. That’s all I can deal with. What’s in front of me. We’ll see what happens over the next few days.

“What I do know is those guys feel for this club and give everything when wearing our shirt, and that’s important.

“Because, irrespective of whether exits happen or not, you can’t take away from the fact they have contributed greatly to this club, and they want to keep doing that.

“I’m keeping an open mind. It’ll be great if they stay, but think these decisions fall on the players themselves to make the best for their careers.”

With the 24-year old entering the final 12 months of his deal with the club, speculation was heavily expected from Celtic fans.

Despite finishing top scorer last season, some who have been critical of the French under-21 internationalist weren’t too sure what his performances on the park would be like going into the competitive season.

However, Edouard’s attitude has been complimented on several occasions from Postecoglou, showing that despite the speculation, he will continue to try and put in performances for the club.

We saw that again on Thursday evening, as the striker came off the bench and played a massive part in helping secure our place in the Europa League with his performance.

Of course, there is still time for him to exit the club with the window coming to an end in a matter of days and speculation heating up once more.

But, Ange and most fans alike have faith that we will see another good level of performance from Edouard.
