CELTIC fans may have been expecting another signing from the JLeague this summer, however, the Daily Record‘s recent claim that Ryotaro Ito is on the transfer radar has been swiftly shut down by Celtic manager, Postecoglou.

When asked about the potential signing, Postecoglou stated that any speculation waswell off the mark“.

This response is in line with the manager‘s style, as he has been known to take a different approach to other managers when responding to questions.

Since joining Celtic, Postecoglou has signed six players from the JLeague, but the seventh won’t be Ito, going by what the manager said on Friday.

Rubbishing Scott Burns’ ‘Exclusive’, Ange Postecoglou said: [Celtic TV]

“God they’ve gone early with the stabs in the dark haven’t they?

“Look we are doing our work but people trying to identify who we are trying to, you know, sort of earmark for next year are…

“Fair to say, if they are taking punts now they are well, well, well, well, well off the mark. Well off the mark, without talking about specific players.”

Celtic will be active in the upcoming transfer market, as they look to strengthen the squad ahead of another season of Champions League football, but Ito won’t be one of the signings to do that.
