With Scott Brown set to depart for Aberdeen this summer, there has been a lot of talk around who his replacement in the side might be.

Of course, there have been names thrown about by the Celtic support with plenty of fans having their own opinion of who this could be. One of those being Lewis Ferguson.

Ferguson has been touted by a move to the Hoops a few times in the past by supporters and his uncle, Barry Ferguson who is formerly of Rangers was speaking about any possibility of a move to Celtic with his family history in the media during this week (more here)

One thing that is clear is that it appears likely that the Scotland under-21s midfielder will be leaving the Dons in the summer after handing in a transfer request to leave the club, which was turned down this afternoon.

Now, Aberdeen may have turned this down. However, in the modern game, these sort of things are mostly in the player’s hands and it is easy for them to force a move.

So, if Celtic were to strike and make a move for the midfielder, you would think it would have to be now before he gets a move elsewhere.

Currently, there are no concrete links to Ferguson and a move this summer. But with this news, there is always the possibility of things changing.

  1. Where to start?

He and his family are Sevco through and through so he probably isn’t interested.

He’s not had a great season for Aberdeen and even at his best he isn’t anywhere near good enough if we are seriously looking to regain the title.

We urgently require quality signings ready to play in the first team not yet more fringe players, God knows we’ve wasted enough on those in the last few years.
