Former Celtic academy player and current host of Open Goal Simon Ferry believes that Neil Lennon can win the affection of the Hoops support back from here until the end of the season.

As quoted by the Daily Record, speaking on Go Radio, Ferry explained why he believes the Celtic boss can win the fans over once again and how the Northern Irishman hasn’t become ‘a, bad manager, overnight’.

“I have no doubt he could (win back the fans). I don’t think Neil Lennon has turned into a bad manager overnight.

“We have seen it happen to great managers this year where they win the league at a canter last year, then this year they are behind.

“And when he has had his strongest team out on the pitch the performances have been good.

“He’s had a hard year in terms of missing players, I’m not making excuses because when you are a big team you need to deal with that.

“But, when you see Neil Lennon’s teams playing the way he wants them to play they are effective in Scotland.

“You see that for 60 minutes against Motherwell and St Mirren.”

As much as Ferry thinks that Lennon can win the fans over again, most fans would probably see it as the opposite with how this campaign has gone, in what could have been a historic season for the club.

Back in October/November time, supporters would have said how much they would have loved Lennon to be the man to turn things around. However, at the same time, it just wasn’t working and we have now come to this stage where we were all but out of the title race in January.

It simply hasn’t been good enough overall and of course, Neil Lennon isn’t the only man to blame for it all at the end of the day the responsibility will fall on the manager.
