Brendan Rodgers’ job seems pretty safe for the time being, yet, many fans and pundits are talking about potential managers for the Bhoys, with Celtic underperforming this season.

Shebahn Aherne, who has appeared on Celtic TV in the past, has voiced her support for the idea of Jose Mourinho taking the Parkhead hot seat, suggesting that his presence would not only electrify the Scottish Premiership but also enhance Celtic’s prospects in European competitions.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, she said:

“I like the idea. He’s in his 60’s now, he’s a legend, I think he could spice up the Scottish Premiership. I think the idea of Jose Mourinho being involved in Old Firms [derby against Rangers] could be total magic and also it could give them a chance of Europe.

“The [s***]housery would be real, it would be utter chaos and we like to see that. Okay, there’s lines to the chaos here but I do think that there’s something in it there.”

Speaking on his previous job, she added: “You look at the job that Jose did at Roma, the proud moments that it brought for him over his career, Celtic is a massive club all over the world, a world-renowned club.

“And then we talk about money, would they be able to afford him? You look at what he earned at Roma, it was around about €6million the salary over the year, [Brendan Rodgers is on] about £3-3.5million but we all know the cost of living is a little bit cheaper in Glasgow.

“It would make sense, wouldn’t it?

“Big manager, big club, experience in Europe. Celtic are terrible in Europe, Brendan Rodgers actually is worse in Europe I think than Celtic are. He’s got a terrible record, so a manager that actually could bring maybe some glory.”

Mourinho is a winner, and is currently out of a job, there’s no denying he’d do a job at Celtic, and definitely give Europe a go.

However, he isn’t a popular figure in some sections of the support after that cup final in 2003, but it hasn’t stopped him from being linked to the Celtic job before.

He was linked in 2021 [The Sun], after Neil Lennon departed. But he was also seemingly in the running to take over from Lennon after his interim period was over off the back Rodgers’ departure in 2019 [Sky Italy].
