St Johnstone took a point home with them on their last visit to Celtic Park earlier in the season, drawing 0-0 with the Hoops.

Turning the attention to this weekend, Euan Anderson has been appointed as the referee, with Calum Spence and Paul McAvinue serving as assistant referees. Lloyd Wilson will take on the role of the fourth official. VAR support will be provided by Chris Graham and David McGeachie. [SFA]

The team will be without their captain, Callum McGregor, until at least after the international break due to a calf/achilles injury.

The availability of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Nawrocki is also uncertain, as both players’ fitness levels are under assessment for the upcoming match

Additionally, Luis Palma, the Honduran winger, is a doubt following an injury sustained in training, complicating the selection options further.

Adding to Celtic’s challenges, Reo Hatate remains out of action due to a long-term injury, with expectations for his return set against Livingston. Hyunjun Yang’s suspension following a red card against Heart of Midlothian further narrows the options available for selection.

As Celtic prepares for this crucial encounter, the team’s depth and adaptability are put to the test. The absence of key players presents an opportunity for others to step up and contribute to the team’s ambitions for a domestic double.
