CELTIC STAR Reo Hatate could be in line for his first Japan cap this week after the country confirmed their World Cup Status for later this year.

Japan beat Australia 2-0 over this week, meaning the country qualified for the major tournament in December. Reo Hatate is the only Celtic representative in the Japan squad this international break but he didn’t see any game time during the game against the Socceroos.

Reo is yet to receive his first cap for Japan but his wait could be over on Tuesday. With qualification in the bag, Japan will face off against Vietnam. It’s the perfect time for some fringe players in the Japanese squad to get some game time.

Reo getting his first cap would be a major honour and we’d be surprised if it didn’t happen.

The midfielder burst onto the scene at Celtic but has had a lull in certain games – it’s to be expected considering the game time Reo has played in the past year or so.

Celtic fans will be hoping if Reo does get his first cap against Vietnam on Tuesday that everything goes smoothly and he heads back to Celtic ready for the Glasgow Derby. His last appearance in the fixture saw the player win man of the match after scoring an impressive brace.
