Charlie Mulgrew has revealed that Celtic winger James Forrest would not have enjoyed the attention he received post-match after his brace against Dundee this afternoon.

After the game, a number of Celtic players ushered Forrest to receive applause from the considerable number of away supporters, with Brendan Rodgers himself even pushing Forrest to the front.

But Mulgrew provided insight on Forrest, having played with him at Celtic for a number of years.

He said: [Sky Sports], “That’s his worst nightmare, he hates the attention, he doesn’t even go on social media.”

Forrest is very clearly a low-key person who goes about his business quietly, meaning he is not spoken about enough as one of Celtic’s greats, which is unfair considering his contribution to the club.

The Scottish winger is a throwback from a different generation of players who did not use social media, and Mulgrew highlighted this in that Forrest does not crave attention and praise through social media.

Instead, he likes to live a quiet life off the pitch, and undoubtedly, this is why his Celtic career has lasted so long at an incredible level.

A number of Celtic supporters would have been guilty of writing off Forrest and even questioning him at times throughout his time at the club.

But ultimately, he has silenced critics.

However, that is not to say that he listens to what is said about him in the media.

It is clear that his personal life and football life are respectfully balanced in a way that many other players could learn from.
