MIKEY JOHNSTON hasn’t had luck at all when it comes to injuries. The winger has picked up some major setbacks ever since trying to make his way through to the first team.

The Celtic academy star has the talent, but staying fit and then being afforded a run of games to show what he can do looks unlikely.

SunSport is reporting Ange Postecoglou is set to sanction a loan move for Mikey before the end of this window.

The report claims former Hoops gaffer Ronny Deila is interested in the Celtic winger and could make a move to bring Mikey to Belgium.

Mikey is also on the radar of clubs down south as he looks to kickstart his career.

The ideal place for the player could be in Scotland at a top six side in the SPFL. Could there be interest in the wee man from a club crying out for more attacking options?

Jota, Maeda, Abada, Forrest and even Kyogo can play out on the wing. Even with Ange rotating, Mikey isn’t going to get the game time he needs to develop. A season away on loan could be the making of him.

  1. Hibs might be a good destination for Johnston, they’re building a good attacking side atm, and he might fit right in with their style?

Our Scottish reared contingent atm, with the Champions League in mind, consists of:

Ralston – Welsh – McGregor – Forrest – Johnston…from the clubs own academy; could possibly have Robertson in there as well?

    and

Turnbull – Taylor – McCarthy – Bain, from the Scottish reared requirement.

We can only pick 8 of them, with at least 4 needing to be from our own academy, so Ralston, Welsh, McGregor, and possibly Forrest would be my picks, though I’m far from impressed with Forrest of late, but his experience probably puts him ahead of Robertson and others in the pecking order.

Turnbull and Taylor would be my picks from the other 4; McCarthy’s never looked like he’s Celtic quality imo, and Seigrist is likely going to be Harts understudy and i don’t think we don’t need a third goalkeeper in the CL squad.

So in that respect, we have a few possible places up for grabs for Scottish reared players, if we found some who fit our style that we could sign and/or promote from within.
