Telegraph Sport are reporting Celtic are chasing defensive midfielder Niklas Dorsch who grew up playing for the Bayern Academy before choosing to leave because of the lack of first team opportunities.

Dorsch, 21, now plays for FC Heidenheim after reportedly turning down a new deal with Bayern.

The player has made 12 appearances for his club so far this season and has impressed. The report claims the defensive midfielder has a £3.2m transfer release clause which could see Celtic up their interest in the German.

The bhoys are definitely in the market for another midfielder. A failed move for David Turnbull proved that. Scott Brown needs help in the middle of the park and although the captain is still performing to a high level we need someone that can come in and start playing some games so Brown can remain fresh in the next 12 months.

It remains to be seen if Celtic will move for the midfielder but it’s clear they’re in the market.
