Celtic got the plaudits for beating Lazio not once but twice in their Europa League group, the latter tie sending Celtic into the knockout round of the competition with two games to spare.

That achievement on its own is outstanding but when you consider where Lazio are in their domestic league and their form to date – out with the Celtic results – it makes it that bit more special.

As we sit here today, Lazio are on a six game winning streak in Serie A and find themselves behind only Inter Milan and Juventus. The team have been flying this year and let’s face it, were expected to get at least four points off of Celtic during the Europa campaign.

Celtic stunned many with two battling performances where they boxed clever and took their chances when they did come along. We’ve only scratched the surface to what Celtic can do this season if they can keep up that sort of form.

Winning twice against an Italian side who have been crushing it domestically should never be looked at as anything other than a quality achievement.
