ANGE POSTECOGLOU has praised Wednesday night’s captain Nir Bitton.

Postecoglou took it upon himself to move the player back into midfield after being used in defence for the past few years.

The Israeli played well, as he has when he has been given the nod this season, and as a result, he has received a glowing report from his boss.

“He’s been great,” [The National] “As with all these things, people look at things differently if he has been here for a while.

“I came in with fresh eyes and a new perspective and I just look at how they are training and playing.

“Nir has been great since I got here. If you look historically, he hasn’t played that many games in the last three or four years in the league.

“He is going really well and playing in a position which I think suits him and suits us.”

“Nir has played a lot at centre-back, but for us, I feel he is much better suited to the midfield,” said Postecoglou.

“He has that experience and leadership because he has been at the club for so long.

“I think he has been fantastic for us.”

Signing for the club in 2013, Bitton knows what is expected of him. It is great to see him take Abada into his care. He too moved from Israel to Glasgow, but with the pandemic situation, he spends some time in Glasgow alone. Having Nir by his side will give Liel the company he requires at such a young age.

Bitton has had his share of ups and downs at Celtic, fans turned on him at the start of this season after he was given his marching orders against Midtjylland in the Champions League Qualifiers. Although, he has made fans eat their words with his starring performances this season.
