Ange Postecoglou’s side picked up their second win of the group stage, in a 3-2 victory over Ferencvaros, which also saw the Hoops secure a place in the knockout rounds of the Conference League at the very least.

However, going into the final two games of the group against Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis, there is still a chance of qualifications for the Europe League knockout rounds.

After picking up a crucial three points in Hungary last night and in doing so keeping themselves alive in the competition, Celtic captain Callum McGregor is now looking towards that target to round off the group stages.

“We have a tough two games left, but it puts us right in the mix for the group,” he said, speaking to the official club website.

“When the group was drawn, we knew how tough it would be, looking at these two fixtures being key ones for us, and that’s where we are.

“The performance and result gives us belief we can finish strongly in the group. We carried a threat through the game, defended well when we had to, and it was a good night for us.”

It is nice to have the luxury of securing a place in knockout football after the New Year. However, Ange and his squad will still be desperate to push for that Europa League spot ahead of Betis.

We know it will be a challenging task, having to travel to Germany before the La Liga side come to Glasgow. But it is nice to hear the squad have that belief.
