Brendan Rodgers has made an official approach for Liverpool defender John Flanagan.

Celtic are talking of a loan with a rental fee, but Liverpool would prefer to offload the player permanently.

Flanagan, who is also fancied by Premier League new boys Burnley, still has a transfer value at the Kop and may be allowed to go if the deal is right.

Brendan Rodgers has upped his search for new players after seeing his team falter in his first official match against a part time Lincoln Imps. It’s something the manager wants to press on with.

This is the third player Rodgers has tried to coax from his former club. The others being, Joe “Beautiful Human Being” Allen & 19 year old Joe Gomez.
