BRENDAN RODGERS has delivered good news and bad news telling Celtic fans Leigh Griffiths is back and looking to start training properly again after being out for over two weeks with a calf injury and illness.

The Celtic striker stayed home from international duty to try and up his fitness game for the benefit of his club. However, an injury curtailed those plans and he must now start his fitness regime again.

However, the bad news is Rodgers is not going to hurry his striker back and can’t give a definite timeline on the player’s return.

Leigh must build himself up again and be at his best before the Celtic manager will bring him into the fold.

“I don’t know when Leigh will be back involved.

“He has had some scans on one or two issues that he has had.

“He’s now back looking to get training. He’s nearly clear of his calf injury, so once he can get his work done and get up to speed in training, we’ll assess it from there.

“I’ve no timeline on it. Hopefully, he can get back soon.”

Edouard has been leading the line for Celtic in Griffiths’ absence and Celtic have been firing without him.

Scoring 13 goals in three domestic games. With that sort of form, the Celtic manager can afford to hold back the player’s return.
