BRENDAN RODGERS has explained Tom Rogic’s absence from Celtic’s 3-0 win over Hamilton at the weekend.

The Australian has been ever-present for the bhoys this season and has been one of Celtic’s best players since they really hit form last month.

The bhoys managed well in his absence with Ryan Christie flying after getting his chance.

Tom was on international duty and got a full 90 minutes against South Korea as the Socceroos got a last minute equaliser.

Many people put it down to the travel schedule the midfielder has as the main reason for his absence – while Rodgers admits that would have made him a doubt to begin with, there was another reason.

“Tom would have been a doubt, he’s just had a trip across the world, but he has a slight issue with his knee so we thought it best he rested” Rodgers told BT Sport.

The Celtic manager didn’t go into the extent of the injury but he didn’t confirm either way if Tom will make Thursday’s game against Rosenborg.

Hopefully the Celtic star shakes off this knee injury.
