LEIGH GRIFFITHS has been talking to Simon Ferry on OpenGoal sport about some of the highlights of his career and eventful moments he recalls.

The Celtic striker got around to talking about his former boss Brendan Rodgers and reveals there’s only one time the Irishman lost his cool with the Celtic team and it was surprisingly after a win.

There were plenty of below-par European performances during Brendan’s time at Celtic but none of them irked him enough to push him into a rage.

However, it would be a 3-1 win against Partick Thistle which would see the Irishman head back to the changing room in an angry mood.

Leigh recalls they got back to the dressing room after the win and the manager lost it.

“I only ever seen him get angry once and we’d won a game. We beat Partick Thistle 3-1 in the League Cup and he was fizzing when he came in, punched the tactics board.

“I’m like that, ‘I’ve never seen this before in my life.’

“We’d been beaten by PSG, Bayern, Barca – battered by these teams – those would be lessons on what you need to be at the top level.

“Beating Partick Thistle you’re thinking, right, comfortable victory, easy. He came in off his nut.

“He was just angry with the way we played.”

Brendan always seemed cool and collected on the touchline. The manager doesn’t seem like the kind to fly off the handle and gets players motivated by speaking calmly and being methodical in what he does.

It’s very surprising to hear he punched a tactics board after a win.
