Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate was ruled out for the remainder of the calendar year after he pulled his hamstring against Atletico Madrid last week. He will be a big miss for the Hoops in the middle of the park.

Off the back of his injury, his gaffer Brendan Rodgers has revealed that his personal life will be looked at as a means of helping him recover. He said (Glasgow Times): “There’s lots of things that can happen with footballers and how they work, so we’ll look at it and investigate every part of his training program and what he does away from here, and see if we can help and support him.”

It will be hoped Hatate can get back on the grass as soon as possible. Recovery will be a long, hard process but there are ample deputies for the 25-year-old in the champions’ squad.

The likes of Paulo Bernardo and Tomoki Iwata will relish the chance to gain some valuable minutes  The former has been Hatate’s replacement so far, but it is certain Iwata will aim to compete, too.
