BRENDAN RODGERS last night gave an update on Patrick Robert’s situation after seeing his young Celtic side sweep Kilmarnock aside with ease in the League Cup.
Rumours were rife yesterday that Paddy was on his way back to Celtic with a loan move being the most likely option.
Brendan Rodgers moved to calm expectations but again reiterated that Paddy is a player he very much wants.
“Pat is a Manchester City player, he spent his pre-season there and if there are any developments to come out of City then we would be hugely interested in him.
“I have heard all the rumours, gossip and speculation about him, but right now he is a Manchester City player and a fantastic player.”
The Irishman indicated he believes Roberts will have a big say on where he ends up this season and would love to see the player back.
“He is clearly a big talent and between now and the end of the market Pat and Manchester City will decide where it is he can go.
“The player, of course, will have big say in where is best for his development this coming season.
“If he is available and we can have him then we’d love to take him.”
Patrick Roberts agent last night told BBC Sportsound that he ‘hopes’ to have the players future sorted within the next 72 hours with a number of clubs interested in his signature.
