After losing out to Lazio in the manner they did on Wednesday, the Champions League will remain a touchy subject for Celtic fans at the minute. Bottom of Group E two games in, things are not looking good for the Bhoys on the continent.
After being public in his desire for his side to have Europe after Christmas this season, manager Brendan Rodgers outlined what he wants in the Champions League once his team improves. He said (Glasgow Times): “As the squad develops and develops in quality then [qualifying for the knockout stage] is something that absolutely we aim to do.”
Rodgers guaranteed when he returned to Glasgow that he would see out his three-year contract at Parkhead. During that time, it is certain his team will grow and get better.
When they do, it appears the Irishman will up his European expectations and look to make progress at the top table, something that has not been done in over a decade.
