Former Celtic boss Ronny Deila was asked about his interest in Celtic winger Mikey Johnston after it emerged the player is likely to head out on loan.

There has been speculation Ronny wants to raid his old club for Mikey and bring him to Standard Liege for the season.

Ange Postecgolou told CeltsAreHere on Friday the club is working on getting Johnston a move out on loan to try and help him develop his game over the next 12 months.

When asked about potentially bringing Mikey in along with another player from Italy, Ronny didn’t deny the interest.

Deila told RecordSport: “I know both of them, but we don’t know how it’s going to go. A lot of players interest us and if we could recruit all those we wanted, it would be easy.

“We continue to scrutinise the market and we don’t want it to go wrong at the moment. when we are trying to sign a player for the club.”

The Celtic academy star has not had the best of luck with injuries over the past few years. Every time we think we’re about to see the best of Mikey, he gets hit with another medium to longterm layoff.

Celtic need to see where his body is at and if he can finally turn all the potential he’s shown into a consistent performer.

Could Ronny get the best of Mikey in the coming season? We don’t see why not. There are a few options on the table for the Celtic player.
