FORMER Celtic boss Ronny Deila has confirmed he’s taken ex-Celt Efrain Juarez on trial at his current club Valerenga.

Juarez was signed for Celtic in 2010 but only made a handful appearances for the club even though he came with a €2.5million fee from Unan Pumas.

The Mexican player never made the grade with Neil Lennon and was loaned out before eventually being moved on.

The player finds himself without a club after leaving Vancouver in January and wants to try his hand in European football again.

With that in mind , former Celtic gaffer Ronny Deila has handed Juarez the chance to win a contract with the Norwegian side.

Speaking about the trial, Deila said: “Efrain arrives with a very good pedigree. I know about him through my contacts.

“His wife is from Belgium and he wants to try European football again.”

At the age of 30, the player will be hoping he can finally crack the European scene and could there be an unlikely Celtic connection that makes it happen?

The Norwegian’s are currently in their offseason which is the perfect time for Ronny to add to his squad for the new season kicking off next month.
