Brown’s comments come after Celtic’s recent victories over Livingston and Dundee, which have maintained the team’s strong form ahead of a crucial top-of-the-table clash against Rangers.

However, there’s an injury sweat after the defender limped off injured in the second half. The initial fear was a torn hamstring, but Brendan Rodgers has said that’s not the case and that he was feeling tight.

Celtic’s recent performances, marked by two clean sheets and five goals scored could be a sign of the Hoops picking up form leading into the derby.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Brown highlighted Carter-Vickers’ importance to Celtic’s backline, expressing hope for his fitness ahead of the Glasgow Derby.

“I’m actually looking forward to it [Glasgow Derby]. Celtic, has two clean sheets in the last two games and two good performances as well.

“They look a threat going forward and solid that the back. Let’s hope and pray that Cameron Carter-Vickers is fit for that because you see the difference in any team when he’s in.

“He can get left one for one at the back, he’s solid.

“Me and James McFadden were talking a little about he’s got that kind of Virgil look and understanding.

“He’s strong, he’s quick. He reads the game really well and he controls the game from the back and you’ve got Callum McGregor in the middle of the park there as well. They’re two huge leaders for the club.”

CCV is the next player that fans are hopeful to see tied down to a long-term contract after fans were gifted with multiple big contracts to key players during the summer months.
