Luca Connell was released by Celtic this week after the club decided not to trigger a one-year extension in the youngster’s contract.

During his time at Celtic, Luca never made a single first team appearance and spent time out on loan at Queens Park.

The midfielder’s ability and hard work ethic haven’t gone unnoticed and while it will be a blow for the Irish under 21 international — he knows there are options for him to kick on past his time at Celtic.

Ironically — the man who could look to hand Luca a deal is a former Celtic teammate.

Former Celtic captain Scott Brown is reportedly very keen on reuniting with Connell at Fleetwood town [SunSport]. The Celtic legend is building a team for next season as he looks to make his way into the management game.

Brown has already signed Shaun Rooney from St Johnstone and he could now make Luca his second import from the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic fans had high hopes for Connell but in the end, Neil Lennon nor Ange Postecoglou saw anything to suggest he could make it in the first team.

We wish the youngster all the best — it would be interesting to see him hook up with Scott Brown.
