Contingency plans have reportedly been put in place for this campaigns Scottish Cup to be complete next season at a later point this year.

As reported by Sun Sport, bosses at Hampden Park have drawn up plans to play the competition later this year in the event that it is not possible to complete it during this season.

Clubs are awaiting to play their third round ties with Celtic set to face either Arbroathor Falkirk but the competition was put on hold during January, coinciding with the shutdown of the lower leagues which is yet to get back up and running.

There is no official confirmation yet as to when it will finish but it is starting to look increasingly likely that it will be during next season with fourth-round ties originally meant to be played on this up-and-coming weekend and sides in the Scottish Premiership also rescheduling their postponed fixtures to the date that the fifth round would take place (weekend of 13th March).

Celtic are currently the holders of the competition having won it for the fourth season on the trot. But it looks like we will have to wait to see our chances of picking up our only realistic chance at a trophy now.
