It has been revealed that the Scottish Senior Football Referees’ Association has called for action over a banner unveiled at Celtic Park [Daily Record].

The banner was unveiled in the safe standing section of the stadium and took a swipe at linesman Douglas Ross who had recently returned from injury.

Ross is a figure who has received much criticism due to his split responsibilities as he is also both an MP and MSP as well as being the leader of the Scottish Conservatives.

Many don’t think that’s right and due to the challenges which people are facing in day-to-day life life, fans wanted to let their feelings known.

The banner which was unveiled not long after Daizen Maeda put the Hoops ahead read “VAR DECISION DOUGLAS ROSS IS A C***” which was visible from his position on the opposing touchline. TV commentator Rory Hamilton had to follow the pictures being covered by apologising to the audience.

Former referees have now called on Hampden chiefs to take action which many will find simply laughable as the SFA have zero power to dish out punishments for banners displayed by supporters.

The Scottish Tory party leader admitted to seeing the banner at the weekend.
