The SFA have backed down over Celtic’s use of Gordon Strachan, it has been reported.

Gordon was brought in by majority shareholder Dermot Desmond to look at the women’s side and B team and find ways to better structure both footballing departments.

The former Celtic boss also holds a role at fellow SPFL side Dundee which raised concerns in the hallways of Hampden as a conflict of interest.

The SFA investigated the matter but after talking to Celtic about Strachan’s role at the club – SunSport have revealed the investigation will go no further.

Celtic have assured the SFA that Gordon is nowhere near first team affairs that could conflict with anything he’s doing at Dundee and the governing body are happy with the explanation.

There have been rumours and speculation this three-month appointment by our majority shareholder only further alienated the now former chief exec Dom McKay. At the start of the season, Dom was keen to look to progress and move forward, you have to think that meant not bringing in a former Celtic boss from over ten years ago for consultation.

  1. By bringing in an intellect in Gordon Strachan to assist temporarily in no way undermined McKay as has been claimed in this article. Gordo is there to review key aspects and I’m sure was there with Dom’s blessing.

  2. This “intellect” is the director of football at Dundee. Is that the level Celtic aspire to? This is another nepotistic appointment from a board hell bent on employing the entire Strachan family.
