It was reported as a great bit of news for Scottish Football this afternoon but try telling that to some disgruntled and jaded fans of the Scottish game after the SFA announced some of the Scottish Cup games will now be on Premier Sports.
The SFA did stress that games will still be available on terrestrial TV but the Sports channel will be showing some games exclusively, putting some of the tournament behind the Premier Sports paywall.
This adds a THIRD subscription based channel for Scottish Football fans to pay out for with BT Sports and Sky already charging for the SPFL games.
Premier Sports generally charges £10pm for a subscription and fans may be aware of them from the start of every season when they pick up Euro qualifiers before BT televise the later rounds.
Fans of Scottish football will not welcome the news of another £10 sub on top of their other financial commitments to the game.
It seems we’re being taken for a ride and these fans agree.
Would recommend all fans boycott this
No harm to Premier Sports, but given there will be 1 game a month that most fans will have an interest, why pay £10 for it?@ScottishFA & @spfl should really consider having a Supporter Liaison Officer appointed and consulted for TV deals https://t.co/MFLBRkdYGF

Incredibly poor judgement by the @ScottishFA in selling the rights to the Scottish Cup to Premier Sports, yet another subscription channel for Scottish Football fans
SKY – League
BT Sports – League Cup
SKY – Scottish CupIt's impressive how often they out do themselves

Absolute shit show once again by Scotland’s football authorities. That’s now a third subscription fans will have to pay if they want to watch their team in the Scottish cup. Sack the lot of them! ? https://t.co/81UQhl6X9M

Celtic will be looking to defend their Scottish Cup title for the third year in a row when the competition gets going in the new year.
