Celtic defender Shane Duffy has returned to social media posting a picture of himself on international duty with Ireland on Instagram this afternoon.

So far this year, the central defender has kept quiet on the social media side of things with his last post coming just before the New Year on the 31st of December.

Since joining the club back in the summer window it would be fair to say that the Ireland captain hasn’t lived up to the fanfare after joining with a lot of expectation on his shoulders.

He has also faced heavy criticism at times for some poor performances and has now even found himself dropped out of the side for youngster Stephen Welsh to come in and take his place.

With all that has happened this season, being a poor season for not only Duffy but also Celtic the 29-year old is certainly in need of a fresh slate next season.

He has likely posted today in support of the Irish National Rugby Team but it is good to see him return to socials. No matter how poor he has been that shouldn’t be carried over onto an app like Instagram having faced abuse on there in the past.

  1. Is it bad coaching ? or was it bad scouting ? the fact is this guy is not even SPL standard despite commanding EPL wages. Somebody has got take responsibility for this BIG EXPENSIVE mistake. However the silence from the club on this matter is deafening, apart from deluded, board supporter Lennon, despite what all his ex team mate pundits say, he still thinks he will come good, despite the fact that he continually drops him, follow Lennon’s actions not his words methinks.

  2. Brave man, let’s hope we have seen the last of him in a Celtic shirt. Poor footballer led by a poor manager, hopefully both will be gone soon.
