Former Celtic striker and current pundit, Chris Sutton has claimed that the blue side of Glasgow has their ‘prefered referee’ for this game.

As reported by the Daily Record, speaking on BT Sport Sutton insisted that Rangers had the man in the middle that they would have wanted in John Beaton, who will be refereeing his first Glasgow Derby since the controversial December fixture in 2018.

“I’m looking forward to the big match. “It’s all stacked in Rangers’ favour, the injuries to Celtic and Rangers, of course, have their favourite referee.

When he was appointed it did worry a few supporters, with Beaton’s past performances in these game.

However, we shouldn’t be looking towards this in my opinion. The referee may make mistakes, that people think are on purpose or not that is down to your own opinion.

But tomorrow, we need to forget about the referee and play the way we know we can. Of course, if the performance is that bad, then the referee will have a huge impact but we shouldn’t allow it to impact us.

If we perform to the best of our ability, there is nothing that any match official can do to stop us from winning this game convincingly.

As the late Great Jock Stein once said: “If you are good enough, the referee shouldn’t matter.”
