BENJAMIN SEIGRIST has backed himself to compete for the number 1 shirt next season, although he was clear that he wouldn’t be competing against Joe Hart, instead, he’d be competing with the Englishman.

With Joe Hart recently receiving the number change from 15 to 1, the assumption is that the former Manchester City man will carry on being the starting keeper, but the Swiss goalie is looking to have his own say on that.

Speaking to CeltsAreHere.com, Siegrist showed his big personality, making it clear he’d signed for the best team in Scotland. Talking about pushing for the number 1 shirt, the former Dundee United player said;

“As I said, I look forward to meeting him and competing with him. The big word is with not against because we are a union.

“I’m going to be like a sponge around him of course. I want to get all the information. He seems a type of guy who’s happy to share, he seems an open guy from what I know of him.

“I back myself to push every day in training to compete and make myself better. I believe that makes everyone around us better.”

Celtic are in a Great Position

Having great goalkeepers at the club is a fantastic position to be in. The club have the best two goalkeepers in the league, so the playing time will have to be shared.

Fans will feel relaxed, knowing they’d be confident no matter who starts between the sticks.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens next season. Will Ange look to make one of the players a cup goalkeeper, and have another for the league and Europe?
