Inter Milan has reportedly set their sights on Celtic’s Matt O’Riley, proposing an initial loan deal with a commitment to purchase later. [Sky sports]

The former MK Dons midfielder has been in stellar form this season for Brendan Rodgers’ men, netting nine goals and providing eight assists in 24 appearances. His impressive performances, especially in the Champions League, have attracted attention from several clubs, including Premier League sides Aston Villa and West Ham.

However, the Serie A heavyweights’ proposed loan arrangement might not sit well with Celtic’s decision-makers. As the January transfer window is notoriously tricky for securing vital replacements, and with Rodgers already on the hunt for new attacking options, letting O’Riley leave without an immediate substantial financial return seems implausible.

The Hoops are in a stable financial position and aren’t in a rush to sell, unless an irresistible offer lands on their table.

The potential departure of O’Riley would also put Celtic in a tight spot to find a suitable successor. Despite pocketing £25 million from Jota’s sale last summer, the Bhoys in green haven’t yet found his replacement.

As the transfer saga unfolds, Celtic fans will be watching closely to see if their star midfielder will make the move to Italy or continue his journey at Parkhead.
