“When enough people make false promises, words stop meaning anything. Then there are no more answers, only better and better lies.” Jon Snow, Game of Thrones, Season 7 Episode 7.

Promises, promises, promises. What do they really mean? When you’re a member of the management or the Board at Celtic Football Club apparently they mean nothing. Dish them out to the hungry fans, tell them what they want to hear … then hope they will go away and forget what you promised in the first place.

It has been yet another summer of discontent for the ticket buying, replica shirt buying brigade, but what do they matter anyway? Who are they to question the Board? Why do they think they have a divine right to answers to valid questions? Their job is to fund the club from their hard-earned cash and be grateful for the opportunity to do so. When they raise an eyebrow about the quality of what they’re watching they are dismissed with contempt; not through the words of the club but certainly through actions or the lack of them. Again, who are they to question the Board at Celtic?

The time has come for the Board to realise that enough is enough. The time has come to stop ripping the hearts out of loyal fans who live and breathe Celtic. The time has come to stop telling lies. The time has come to invest in the squad and stop penny pinching. The time has come to deliver on your promises. That time is NOW. Hail Hail

  1. Chris you sound like you are a delusional bitter person. Penny pinching you say? Celtic have a busines to run and a successful business means success for the club and fans and P.L. is the right man for the job. The worst and biggest mistake he has made was to go backward and give Lennon another go and I am sure we will all live to regret that.

  2. Thank you for your comment Frank. So you’re anti-Neil Lennon? I thought fans should support their club by supporting the manager no matter who it is. The successful business you refer to depends on a quality team on the field of play. Penny pinching won’t matter when there are no pennies to pinch

  3. The board has provided funds to the managers. What they do with it is up to them. How many good signings did Rodgers make apart from Dembele (who had been targeted before he arrived), Edouard and Sinclair? How many were last minute fill ins and loans?

People also forget that our wages bill increased significantly under Rodgers.

The real issue is identifying targets early and having long term planning. Rodgers brought in too many loan players and we have not replaced the 7 players we lost in defence. Everyone knew we would be losing these players including Tierney who made it clear months ahead that he was on his way out and had a new agent. We should have replaced each position with back ups at the start of the window. The board failed on this point as they did not bring in a Head of Recruitment early enough or Director of Football. However you cannot say they have not laid down money when we have spent 12m on 3 players and 9m on one last year plus their wages.

  4. You are spot on Chris, the fan support the club it is them who buy the gear and season tickets but they did not sign up to give shareholders a 10% of there pot at the expence of the team if the team needs support it should come before dividends, this hotel who has the the control, as far as I can see its the fans that is paying for it yet shareholders will benefit from it in shares and dividends, we should have peter on the clubs side buying out shareholders as his number one priority after all its the fans that pay his wages he has £ 25 million to get the ball rolling for buy outs
