TOM ROGIC could be set for a shock international call up next month without having kicked a ball for Celtic this season Graham Arnold has confirmed.

The Australian boss says he is monitoring Tom’s situation but he’s likely going to bring the Celtic midfielder into the fold knowing he hasn’t had a bit of game time for his club as of yet.

Tom has been out injured since the summer and hasn’t even got a proper pre-season under his belt yet although he has been back in training for over a week now.

Neil Lennon isn’t going to be hasty and thro Tom in before he’s ready but it appears as if his international boss has no such qualms.

“We’re still monitoring Tommy and keeping an eye on him, but we think he will be fit for the match in Kuwait.” Arnold told Sunsport.

He’s a big part of what we do and we always expect him to be ready to play for us.

“He has great commitment to the Socceroos, but overall he’s a great player for us and we expect he’ll be fit as soon as possible.”

Tom has a fight on his hands to regain his place in the side with Ryan Christie doing so well in his absence. The Australian has been a pivotal player for the club over the past three or four years and we want to see him back at his best. If he goes out on international duty before kicking a ball for Celtic and comes back re-injured, Celtic fans and the club would be furious.

Celtic felt hard done by in December last year when the club were powerless to keep Tom at the club for the Glasgow Derby with the Socceroos not allowing the Australian to stay with his club a little longer before flying out for the Asia cup. Surely the club would advise against a call up.
