There were plenty of summer exits at Celtic Park this summer. But has there been one in-particular which has knocked this Celtic team more than most?

We’re not talking about playing personnel, but rather the coaching side of things.

It was June this year when Damien Duff stepped down as a first team coach at Celtic. He had previously stepped up and stepped in when Brendan Rodgers left his post and Neil Lennon came back into the fold.

From various images and from what we saw on the sidelines; Duff had a great influence on the players and in the dressing room.

Damien’s departure was solely to do with family reasons with the Irishman even claiming he was leaving his dream job but it looks like a big mistake on Celtic’s part not to try and accommodate Damien or at least replace his character properly.

He was on the training ground most days with the players and built a rapport with them in the aftermath of Rodgers departure.

Has Duff’s absence hurt the first team? Celtic borough in Gavin Strachan as Duff’s replacement but we’ve so far not seen the influence that Damien seemed to have with the bhoys.

Rapports are built over time but are we missing the experience and presence of the coach? And do we need someone similar in at the club?
