Celtic captain Callum McGregor has been full of praise for his fellow academy graduate James Forrest after he struck his 100th goal for the club at the weekend.

McGregor is currently out of action at the moment for the Scottish champions but it was a welcome sight for many Hoops fans to see the 29-year old appear speaking about his fellow teammate James Forrest.
Both have a wealth of experience at the club and are great role models for young players coming through the ranks at Celtic.
They have shown the upmost level of professionalism in their daily lives that have allowed them to play at such a high level consistently and be picked by a number of Celtic managers throughout their time at the club.
Callum McGregor is still and around Lennoxtown even though he’s injured but it’s vitally important to have someone like Forrest in the dressing room who has seen it all during his 12 years since making his Celtic debut.
“It’s incredible. I was absolutely delighted for him at the weekend,” said Callum McGregor speaking to Celtic TV.
“I think if you had to dream up a scenario [to get his 100th goal], then that would’ve been it.
“Super, super player – he has been for many years. I probably touch on that a little bit in the book as well. His consistency levels over a period of time at this club to keep performing, keep scoring goals and keep getting assists. Continually putting yourself out there and giving your absolute all for the club.
“There probably wasn’t anybody happier than me when he hit that hat-trick at the weekend and he’s a special, special player. One of 30 at this club that have done it and you think of the names that he’s in good company with there as well and you think of the amount of players who have played for this club, to be in that category is something really special.”
Callum McGregor is waiting for his book to be released this month which will give an even deeper insight into the Celtic captain who we will hope to see return from injury sooner rather than later. It’s hopeful that McGregor will be available after the World Cup.
